The Osaka City University Career Center offers career guidance to its students to help them reach their full potential in their future career. We do not only supply information and know-how on job searching, but also provide training in skills that will be of use to them both in society and at work.

Career guidance and workshops

The career guidance of OCU can be divided into 3 main steps and starts when students begin their job-search in the 3^rd year. It consists of guidance and workshops, using methods also applied in company human resource trainings.

Step 1	Learning the basics of job searching and self-assessment to prepare for the actual job search.
Step 2	Learning how to research sectors and companies, training necessary work and business skills in workshops.
Step 3	Practicing interviews and discussions to obtain practical skills that can be used both during the job-search and in working life.

On-campus company briefings and recruitment sessions

We invite human resource managers of companies and government offices to explain not only about their activities and recruitment process, but also about the skills and mindset they expect from potential employees. These seminars give students a good chance to become acquainted with new companies, offering them a first step towards employment.

Individual guidance

Our career guidance staff all hold career counseling qualifications or have extensive working experience in the private sector. They give individual counseling to students from the first year on, taking into account the characteristics and wishes of each student.

21^st Century Seminar

For the 21st Century seminars OCU invites a varied group of companies, government offices and alumni to the university to present their views on the theme ‘New prosperity in the 21^st century’. The seminars are open to students of all years.?

The seminars offer students the opportunity to become familiar with a wide range of business sectors, trigger their interest in specific professions and challenge them to think about their own future. To emphasize the globalized world that students will be working in and to familiarize them with concrete business English, a number of the lectures are held in English.

OCU Career Design System

The OCU Career Design System is a data system in which OCU students can search for information on Japan’s best companies, job positions, recruitment events, internships and other related information, from their own computer. Students can also update and manage their own job-searching profile in real-time, while the OCU Career Center offers them full support.?
